Hurricanes-Flyers: Carolina Must Turn Key Weaknesses Around To Win

Halloween came about a month early for the Carolina Hurricanes, and its lasted a long time. The Canes have been scary, and not in a good way.
But perhaps their luck will turn on this day, Oct. 31. It would be a nice time to do it, the desperately need two points, a victory over a fellow Eastern Conference team, and, most important, a "Won 1" in the streak column, a place that hasn't seen that in a very long time.
Carolina will head into Philadelphia today for a 1:00 game, the first of back-to-back day games for the Hurricanes, who will face San Jose in Raleigh mid-day tomorrow.
The Flyers will enter the game today well-rested but reeling from a tough home loss last Sunday and then a third-period breakdown in a loss in Washington on Tuesday.

 So far this October...
 Carolina Hurricanes
It hasn't been a pretty first month for the Hurricanes. Two wins and seven points in 11 games played was not what they were looking for.
The Hurricanes have also lost seven straight and are winless ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NHL, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers

Danny Briere Leaves Practice; Will Not Play Against Carolina

You knew the Philadelphia Flyers were legitimate Stanley Cup contenders entering the season as long as the injury bug didn't catch on.
Unfortunately, that's been the case in the last couple of days with Simon Gagne landing on long-term injury with two hernias.
Like that wasn't bad enough, Danny Briere left practice on Friday with a "lower-body injury," and is not expected to play in Philadelphia's matinee against the Hurricanes on Halloween.
Briere, 32, has collected five goals and two assists in 10 games this season after missing 53 games with abdominal and groin injuries last year.
The Flyers called up David Laliberte from the Adirondack Phantoms to take Briere's spot on the roster. Laliberte potted two goals and four assists for six points with a plus-two in eight games for the Phantoms.
Laliberte was one of the last players to be cut this preseason, and played well enough to earn a call up in case of injury. Newly acquired Stefan Legein could be an option later down the line, but he's ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: NHL, Danny Briere, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Stanley Cup, Simon Gagne
