Jonathan Toews was named the Blackhawks' captain during
the 2008-09 regular season, making him the third-youngest player
to earn that distinction in the history of the NHL. Toews (20 years, 79 days) joins Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and Tampa Bay Lightning center Vincent Lecavalier as the one of the youngest players in professional hockey to captain his club.

Ever since the downtrodden times that gave the
Penguins the opportunities to draft Marc-Andre Fleury #1 overall,
Evgeni Malkin #2 overall, Sidney Crosby #1 overall and finally Jordan Staal #2 overall, the belief among the so-called “experts” was that the Pens would never be able to keep all of them.
