Though neither Cone or Morris will make the
Hall of Fame and it is certainly debatable who
had the better career, both men deserve to be acknowledged for having outstanding careers. I beleieve in a lot of way both pitchers are still underrated in terms of their brilliant careers.

I agree with Jimmy Scott. You have to
really admire athletes and baseball players in generally for
being able to put criticism behind them and take tomorrow is a new day mentality. Baseball is a marathon and when players go through slumps it can really get to them. Makes you appreciate Manny.

Got to disagree with Tyler on this one.
I agree that the Rays traded a source of
strength to address a weaker area but Edwin Jackson, though not a polished pitcher, has shown promise and has potential to develop. I would have considered trading Jackson but would have looked for a better OF option.

WOW a lot of Cardinals praise. Puljols is
one of the best players I have ever seen
play but I have heard some things that may contradict Kerry's praise for Puljol's charming personality.

On shortening the schedule: I agree weather is
becoming a factor particularly in postseason. I like the
idea of adding scheduled double headers into the sked, either on Sat. or Sun. I would be careful on cutting off days, season is very long and guys need to rest or their performance will suffer.

Hard to argue with DugoutCentral's choice for Worst
Pitcher in 2008. More depressing news for Bucs fans.
Looked like they might have a promising young staff with Gorzelanny as a main chip prior to the year. Seems like Gorzelanny was hurt most of the year so maybe look for a bounce back next year,

I guess Albert Puljols is glad nobody was
listening to him two years ago when he claimed
that someone who doesn't lead their team into the playoffs doesn't deserve the MYP. Puljols took home the MVP trophy today although it was Ryan Howard, not him took his team to the playoffs. Sweet irony!

Longoria's great season was a little dampened by
his miserable World Series, but lets not forget how
young he is and the great season he had, as well as pretty amazing postseason, up until the Fall Classic at least. Longoria has all the talent in the world and its scary to think how good he can be.

I agree completely with Jeff's feelings on Mark
Cuban. How can MLB owners not support Cuban purchasing
the Cubs? Sure Cuban has his quirks and is to much of a loud mouth for an owner BUT he has been a great promoter for the game of basketball, he desperately wants to win and his players love him.

I could see the Pro Sports Championship starved
city of Philadelphia relieved to finally have a winner
but skeptical they may never see another one. I hate to break it to the fans in Philly, but the Phils have a great core and if they can sure up their rotation behind Hamels good things will happen

At least there is an excuse for the
first round in terms of the Red Sox playoff
games ending late. The Sox first round series was against the Angles, a west coast team. MLB has to somewhat cater to the Cali fans, especially since the fist two games of the series was there. Less reasoning for ALCS

Interesting perspective on Dice K. I agree there
are some advantages to Dice K's approach but he
better be careful. You asking for trouble if you become to careful working to batters. He could face problems with walks which could lead to the big inning. Also the Sox bullpen is not a strength.

Great notes as always from Bill Chuck filled
with interesting info. The Rays may have a great
home record with big crowds at the Trop but I would think in this series there will be plenty of Sox fans in the house as well. I am really interested to see what the Tampa crowd will be like this series.

I am really surprised that as a former
player, Pags is quick to defend Manny. I agree
with him that Manny certainly won't be the first or the last player not to give 100% every time he steps on the diamond, but the crap he pulled in Boston is went far beyond the typical actions of today's athlete.

There is no argument that Jason Bay has
been very good since he arrived in Boston and
he was great in Game 1 of the postseason, but can we see a few more playoff games before we decide that Bay has fully replaced Manny Ramirez, one of the most prolific hitters of all time. Bay has a long way to go
