I would think the majority of leagues that
use daily transactions have some sort of an innings
maximum for pitchers and/or a games played cap for hitters. It is extremely important that by the end of the season, you either reach these maximums or come as close as possible.

StatCorner.com has a ton of cool statistics to
analyze, including the much discussed tRA and its regressed
version, tRA*. Besides these ERA estimators, the site also calculates a pitcher's swinging strike percentage, or the percentage of pitches the pitcher throws that result in a batter swinging...

Last week, I discussed the various free ERA
estimators out there for our analytical pleasure, and discussed
the strengths and weaknesses of each metric. Our own Brian Joura suggested that I take it one step further and look at which pitchers the ERA estimators most disagree on.

The sabermetric revolution is in full force. From
VORP to WARP to MORP to BABIP to UZR,
the stat-heads seem to be an acronym-loving bunch. One acronym that has gotten a lot of play is FIP. Our friend Derek Carty from THT wrote an article on Monday explaining why he doesn't use the metric to...

We all love trying to buy low and
sell high. It is one of the most gratifying
aspects of fantasy baseball to pull off a trade like that and watch as the players involved revert to expected performance levels soon thereafter. However, every year there are always those players that stay high or...

This is usually my favorite time of the
fantasy baseball season as we are now through more
than six weeks of games and owners are beginning to truly panic. Su ddenly it is no longer a slow start, but an extended slump that has owners legitimately concerned about their players....

One way to search for potential breakout starting
pitchers is to identify those who are just one
skill away from putting it all together. If they already possess two above average skills, some improvement in the third one might be all that is needed to produce a breakthrough season.

Digging for a good closer is like trying
to find a good deal on Craigslist. Sure, you
might end up with an Xbox 360, two brand new controllers and eight games, but you had to meet some random sketchy guy at a 7-Eleven and pay him in cash and cartons of Pall Malls. Is it really worth it?
