Phil's pulled-out of the BMW, most likely due
to his probs with Finchem. Too bad. The final
two Fedex Playoff tournaments could have been the best golf we'd seen in a while. Still could be, but it's a long-shot.

The new Fedex Cup points championship was more

There's been lots of commentary against the Cup.
A few comments in favor. Just give it a
chance before passing judgement and enjoy good golf.

The results are in, lots of players are
out (of the 144-man field, that is). Here's to
hoping one of the journeyman pros will take home the $10 million paycheck after the tour championship. Actually, it's more of a promise of $10 million, with the actual money to come a few years down the road.

Defensive tackle Gerrard Warren was traded to the
Raiders in exchange for a 2008 Draft Pick. Warren
was unhappy, as the new Broncos defensive scheme would likely have cut playing time.

Smoltz passed Phil "Knucksie" Neikro's mark of 2,912
strikeouts in the third inning of Atlanta's win yesterday
over the Brewers. Caps off a record-setting couple of weeks for the Braves. First skipper Bobby Cox (most times tossed from games), now Smoltz.

Looks like the ATP Tour may be the
next to get struck by the gambling bolt. Russian
Nikolay Davydenko has come under suspicion after a recent match where betting was overwhelmingly in favor of his underdog opponent, Martin Vassallo Arguello. Davydenko won the first set, lost the second and withdrew during the third. Nothing's proven, but the matter is under investigation

The pundits aren't lying when they say China
has a pollution problem. Beijing is testing whether banning
over a million of it's 3 million vehicles will clear "health-threatening" smog and ease traffic concerns. How horribly bad must it be to BAN cars from a city, even for a short time?

Tiger Woods has pulled out of the first
of four tournaments that make up the Fedex Cup
Playoffs, The Barclays, to be held next week. Although he intended to play each event, Woods cites exhaustion as the reason. That will certainly stir the pot on the Fedex Cup. It will be difficult to come back from missing one tournament to win the Cup, but Tiger says it's still his intention to win.

Andre Woodson of Kentucky is ranked number 1.
Brian Brohm of Louisville may be a bit steamed,
because he's ranked No. 2 and he's never lost to Woodson dating back to high school. Whether he is a true "Number 1" or not, it's good to see someone besides players from USC, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, etc. get some recognition.
