You almost knew it had to play out
like this. When two teams dominate the College World
Series tournament the way the LSU Tigers, and Texas Longhorns did, there was no chance one team or the other was going to sweep the best of three series. There just had to be a game three.

It seems like it’s been decades since the
Kansas City Royals had a catcher they could truly
be proud of. Bob Boone is the last great catcher to don the Royals uniform, and even he was at the end of a storied career.

With many of Illinois' regulars struggling from the
field, it was up to Kentucky transfer Alex Legion
to carry the team on his back. Until a little more than four minutes remained in the game, it appeared the newcomer would do just that........

Illinois' dream season just keeps on rolling. One
season after posting just 14 wins, the Fighting Illini
improved to 15-2 thanks to a second half rally that took them past the 25th ranked Michigan Wolverines in what was already the 2nd matchup between the teams.

This could be one of those really bad
weeks for the WAC. There isn’t a single matchup
where a WAC conference team is guaranteed a win. This is the problem with lower level teams, they’re often put on the schedule as fodder for the BCS teams’ win-loss records.

You have to look long and hard to
find a reason why Kansas should not be considered
one of the top teams of the 2008 season. After pouring over stats and rosters, and everything else I could find, the only reason I can come up with is that they won’t be surprising teams like they did a season ago.

If it weren’t for the Oklahoma Sooners, Missouri
would have had an undefeated season, a Big 12
title, and a shot at the National Title. Twice last season Oklahoma and Missouri faced off, and twice Oklahoma won the game going away. If Missouri can figure out what they were doing wrong, and if no one else can figure out what Oklahoma was doing right, this could be the year for the Tigers

Baylor seems to be in uncharted territory this
season. After hiring yet another new coach, some would
think that they are exactly where they’ve always been, trying to tread water in a division that is just too good for them. However, this new coach is not like the others......

All apologies to a friend of mine, who
inadvertently gave me the idea for this article. I
informed my friend that I was stuck on what my initial writing should be for the NCAA Outsider, and being the Boston Sports Homer that he is, his reply was a suggestion to call it “How Boston College will shock the World and win the National Title.” I replied that I didn’t want people to think I was a fool

4-Star Quarterback recruit Cody Green is a player
a lot of Nebraska fans are salivating over. While
the young signal caller has amassed over 30 scholarship offers, he recently trimmed the list of teams he’s considering to two, eliminating such national powers as LSU, and Alabama. The race for Green’s arm has come down to two conference rivals, Nebraska, and Texas A&M.
