Roy Halladay pitched one helluva game tonight, yet
ended up on the short end of the stick.
Three consecutive complete game losses...where once the sounds of people fawning over the Jays echoed, now lie in silence.

Make sure to listen to my interview with
Nike Golf Global Sports Marketing Director Kel Devlin from
this past weekend if you missed it. I was most interested to hear Devlin's answer to my question about the length of Tiger Woods' current deal with Nike Golf. If you recall, I broke the story late last year when Nike Golf extended their deal with Tiger. Tiger's first two deals with Nike ...

When you're looking at the fastest growing sports
companies on the planet, you've got to include Nike
Golf in the conversation. And yes Nike Golf, like the Jordan Brand, is a standalone company. Funny story from a TIME Magazine feature on Nike Golf written earlier this year. "In 1996 a group of Nike marketing executives gathered in a fourth-floor conference room on the company's ...

Did you know that more TV viewers tuned
in to watch New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine
earn his 300th win at Wrigley Field in Chicago this past Sunday by almost a 3 to 1 margin over the TV audience who tuned in to watch Bonds hit home run #756? ESPN2’s broadcast of Nationals-Giants Tuesday night, in which Giants LF Barry Bonds broke MLB’s all-time home run record, earned a 1.1 coverage area...

Reason #6,781 why Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash
is my favorite athlete on the planet. How many
2-time (should be 3-time Dirk) MVP's do this kind of stuff? Just don't get hurt Steve! The Suns need you come October!

Matt Murphy was the lucky fan who caught
Barry Bonds home run ball #756 tonight. Ironically, Murphy
was on a 1-day layover in San Francisco before a planned trip to Australia. He purchased a ticket just for tonight's game. From the reports I have seen, it sounds like he decided to attend the game as a last minute decision this evening. Talk about your good fortune.

After a 10-year partnership, Tiger Woods and American
Express have parted ways. Woods' second of two five
year deals ended recently. Woods and AMEX decided not to sign another deal, thus ending the partnership. American Express will still be very much involved with golf though, as the company signed a deal with the PGA of America. Amex vice president Rich Lehrfeld told the AP that while the ...

Good job Clay Hensley, you just cemented your
name in ignominy. Just last week, everything seemed peachy
– a 1-3 record to go along with a miniscule 6.49 ERA and a whopping 2.2% ownership in fantasy leagues. Then you did the unthinkable – pitched halfway decent on Saturday. But taking a look at the pitching line doesn’t reveal the magnitude of your deeds. 4.2 IP 3 H 2 R 5 BB 3 K 1 HR

Just last week, Cal Ripken Jr. was officially
inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame. There has
never been a player on the ballot for the first time voted into the Hall unanimously, but Ripken appeared on 98.53% of the ballots in January. Put me in there with the 1.47% who didn’t want him in. I assume those guys didn’t vote for Cal because they have something against voting in first-year ...

Even though Steinbrenner's health seems to be deteriorating,
the value of the New York Yankees continue to
soar. Which leads to the question, since "The Boss" isn't as spry as he used to be and his offspring seem hesitant to assume control of the team and the many entities associated with the business empire, would Steinbrenner consider selling?

The Red Sox are seven games up on
the Yankees, looking as though they have a legitimate
chance to end the Evil Empire’s stranglehold on the AL East. Enough with the wild-card spots. It’s about damn time the Sox won a pennant. But looking at the current 25-man roster, I’d say this is the year the Sox not only win the AL East for the first time since 1995

10:30 The dude: Garrett, a retired professional figure
skater who claims he used to get all the
female skaters. Good chance he’s bullshitting about that. Now is a skating coach for really little kids. Looked fairly jacked in the brief second they showed him without his shirt on. 10:31 Wow, the only sound bite from the first girl, Hannah, was “I want a guy who is able to pick me up.”

Several things that are noteworthy from a financial
standpoint regarding yesterday's big trade between the Celtics and
Timberwolves. The deal is the most lopsided in NBA history. The Celtics dealt away 7 players (5 current players and 2 future first-round picks) for Garnett. Thus making it a 7 for 1 trade. Between Garnett, Ray Allen and Pierce, they will eat up roughly $56M of cap space.

I have not had morning wood since the
NBA lottery, which is a real problem. But out
of nowhere, I had a wet dream last night picturing Kevin Garnett in a Celtics uniform, and now my dream is going to become a reality. For months now, long-time buddies Danny Ainge and Kevin McHale have been discussing a trade involving Kevin Garnett. The initial talks started around the draft when Ainge was ...

As the fifth decade of the Superbowl-era winds
down, it is natural to ask, who is the
best player of the ’00s? Not the most relevant player, not the most celebrated player, but the man who has simply played the best football. (I’ll give you a hint: it’s a wide receiver from Marshall who ISN’T named Randy Moss. And the second-best player of the decade wasn’t even drafted.) The following ...
