I spent my youth throwing a tennis ball against the steps imagining that I was throwing the last out in the 7th game of the World Series or running towards the outfield wall with my back to the plate only to make an impossible catch and save the game. When I moved to the U.S. and finally found other people to play sports with I played everything: flag football, touch football, high school basketball, college intramural basketball (only women could go into the key), softball, USVBA volleyball, soccer. I finally found my calling in life when I discovered the Chinese fighting martial arts only to find that my knee could not do tai chi. Then I moved to Los Angeles and realized that I could play tennis every day of the year. Each martial art has healing, fighting and spiritual parts to it. Strangely enough, I’ve been able to find all three in tennis.
