July 5 --- MLSNet.com: The stunning goal Saturday
night came in the 88th minute; it was Razov's
third of the season and 112th of his career. --- More importantly, the 1-0 win thrust Chivas USA to the top of the Western Conference, now tied with the other LA team the Galaxy. --- They are even on 21 points and will play Thursday in the second SuperClasico of the season. (Fox Soccer Channel)

15, both the Galaxy and Chivas USA top the
Western Conference table with identical 6-6-3 records, each with 21 points. --- Saturday night at the HDC, Chivas USA eeked out a 1-0 victory over the Earthquakes, thanks to an 88th minute goal by Ante Razov. --- Galaxy had failed to add to their points total, losing to Revolution (also at HDC) on July 4.

An interesting take on the Chivas USA's short
history. The entry of Chivas USA into MLS three
years ago caused a big stir in the league, primarily because of the money and exposure involved in such a move. Chivas of Guadalajara is one of the storied clubs of Mexican soccer and their passionate fan base is locked into their club because of its policy of only signing Mexican players.

of a New York Red Bulls defensive miscue for
the equalizing goal just before halftime, before the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw at Home Depot Center on Saturday night. --- Ante Razov scored his first goal since April 26 and second overall this season; RBNY's Dave van den Bergh opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a goal off a free kick.
