in lopsided 5-1 win --- MLSNet.com: Edson Buddle scored
two goals in a four-goal burst in 15 minutes in the first half, then completed his hat trick with a late finale at Pizza Hut Park...Buddle completed his triple after a spectacular cross from David Beckham, who tallied his fifth assist. --- L.A. now in 2nd place in the West, 1 point shy of Rapids.

Seattle Sounders in their semifinal, this guarantees a non-MLS team in the U.S. Open Cup Final for the first time since 1999. --- The Sounders defeated Kansas City in a PK shootout; same was required to send on defending champs NE Revolution, who will meet DC United in their semi (both August 12).

Edson Buddle was voted Major League Soccer's Player of
the Week for Week 8 of the 2008 season. Buddle's hat trick led the Galaxy to a 5-1 victory over FC Dallas that kept his team within one point of the top spot in the Western Conference, now 3-3-2 (11 pts.) - trailing only Colorado.

May 19 --- Soccer Amercia: With its 5-1
rout at FC Dallas, the Los Angeles Galaxy upped
its scoring total to a league high 19 goals (in eight games). The Galaxy was already ahead 4-1 when Dallas went a man down with the ejection of Adrian Serioux for a foul on David Beckham, who notched his fifth assist of the season in the game, which drew a standing-room-only crowd of 22,331 in Frisco, TX.
