SOCCER Soccer: Four lessons in loyalty from Italy
The captains of Italy ' s four leading clubs
are symbols of stability in a league of suspicion. As the national league, Serie A, starts a fresh season on the weekend desperate for redemption, so Paolo ...
One of the biggest criticisms Roma has received,
is that while they are able to produce very
seductive play, they lack the cynicism and deadly accuracy which make a team into a European giant. Today, they exhibited the exact opposite trend: dominated by their Real Madrid opponents, Francesco Totti & friends managed to reverse a very early 1-goal deficit (cortesy of Raúl) to go win the game 2-1.
The Roma striker may have ended up floating
in the Tiber if Inter Milan's tailor had his
way. Tailor Domenico Brescia was "revealed to be a convicted murderer who is close to the Crisafulla Mafia clan ". The Telegraph reports that Italian police suspect he is also a coke dealer. Brescia's telephone was tapped and thousands of conversations were taped including ones with Inter players and ...
In an exciting Roma-Inter Coppa Italia final (reaching
its 4th match-up in consecutive years), the Giallorossi grabbed
their season consolation prize. Why "sweet"? Beating one’s big rivals is always great. Why "bitter"? There’s only so much a Cup win can compensate. As every Serie A fan will testify, winning the Scudetto’s a whole other ballpark and for Roma, that will have to wait another year.
A phenomenal goal by the AS Roma Capitano
in the second half of the Sampdoria vs Roma
match
The Pepsi XI is at it again. David
Beckham with a performance William Wallace would be proud
of. But Totti ragging on a diver? That might be the most ridiculous bit of all...
UEFA Champions League news from Channel 4 Sports:
...Luciano Spalletti said this was a decisive game for
qualification, as both sides were realistically challenging for second place behind Manchester United. The Giallorossi needed a victory after their 1-0 loss at Old Trafford, but also to counteract the poor Serie A form that saw them held 4-4 by Napoli at the weekend.
Despite playing inferiorly to their opponents for a
large portion of the match, the Giallorossi took home
the win. AC Milan put in their best performance of the season, went ahead first through Kaká, but were then forced to raise the white flag 10 minutes from the end. Striking through Giuly and Vucinic, a simple 3 minutes of Roma brilliance brought AC Milan down to their knees.
One’s walking already . One’s signing for life
. One’s not going anywhere .
You know how Palermo’s Maurizio Zamparini spent what
seemed like months mulling over the inevitable departure of
Francesco Guidolin before finally firing him a few weeks ago ? Well, now that the team’s results without him have been crap ...
e Solo Un Capitano By: Chris | June

The Offside: AS ROMA: Juventus is behind us,
even though I’m still steamed. But Fiorentina is no
slouch and we have to put all our energy into that game, because, you know, we have a lot of impact on the outcome of the games.

- Sampdoria 0 There is but one. Kaka can
have his Golden Balls, Messi can have his goals, Cronaldo can have his teenage girl fandom, but there is not a single player in the world with the vision and sheer genius ...
It’s bound to be a very entertaining Serie
A weekend: on Saturday Udinese vs. Lazio to whet
our appetite, Roma vs. Milan for the main course, Juventus vs. Napoli on Sunday for dessert. The main action however will undoubtedly be on the field of the Stadio Olimpico of Rome, where a Scudetto-chasing Giallorossi will face a Champions League-hopeful Rossoneri. Waiting for Manchester United in April...
Inter Milan 2 - Roma 1 (Agg 4-7)
(Coppa Italia, May 17, 2007) Inter won the battle,
but Roma won the war and the Italian Cup for the first time in 16 years. On the night, Crespo scored a wonderful header, Cruz then put Inter two up, before Perrotta ...
WAGfather Muddia put in a special request for
a Quagliarella plaything/girlfriend for today, but since I can’t
find a single thing about him ever touching a woman, he’ll have to be put off for a few weeks. That should give him more ...
