San Jose Earthquakes & Tottenham Hotspurs Announce Partnership

Ok, when I read this on MLSnet.com, the first paragraph was this: " It seems that whenever two soccer teams announce a partnership agreement, regardless of where it happens in the world, there are two guarantees: One is that there is a big press conference, and another is that it will never be heard from again."
I thought about that for a few minutes, and well, they're right. Real Salt Lake and Real Madrid - partners in name but not much more. Chivas USA and Guadalajara - sure, they have the same owners, but that's about it.
Now, the latest MLS club to have a foreign partner are the San Jose Earthquakes and the Tottenham Hotspurs. And according to the two clubs, this partnership won't be in name only.
Paul Barber, executive director for the Spurs said: "In various markets around the world, I think some clubs from Europe have gone in, played a game, left, picked up a big fee, and done a little bit of brand awareness. That's not our approach. ... We'd rather go to fewer places and ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, San Jose Earthquakes, Tottenham Hotspur, Major League Soccer, Premiership, South Africa

The Power Of Sport

Sport. One of the few truly universal phenomenons. People from every country in the world play it and care about it. The reach and inspiration sport brings is simply incredible.
It has the power to make a superstar out of men and women, but can just as easily crush the hundreds of hours of hard work and effort you have poured into it. Whether you are a fan, player, coach, manager, physio, kit-man, owner, chairman, or boot-cleaner, sport effects almost all six and a half billion members of the human race.
Every country has their preferred sports. In England it is football, in India it is cricket, in New Zealand it is rugby. Everyone from the giant Russia to the tiny San Marino has their personal favourite which can make or ruin their day.
Kids from Gambia to Venezuela join clubs just to be able to play it. If they aren't lucky enough to be able to afford that they will play on the streets. Nothing can stop the power of sport.
And the biggest sport in the world is football, or soccer to most. ...

Find more top sports news, videos, and blogs on BallHype: Soccer, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United, Major League Soccer, Premiership
