After eight matches, FC Rubin Kazan still remain first in the Russian Premier League standings. By winning their first seven matches, the club set a Russian Premier League record. No club had ever achieved the mark of seven straight to begin a campaign. In their eight match, Rubin Kazan finally were defeated by visiting side Spartak Moscow 3-0.
