As the whistle blew for half time, Spurs fans had no inkling that they would be in for a treat in the second half. Starting with the lanky Crouch and the diminutive Defoe, Harry Redknapp hit all the right notes. Lennon was irresistible on the right. He was in full flow, charging down the right flank and delivering pin-point crosses that left Kirkland befuddled. Defoe was the star of the night, helping himself to five goals.
