ESPN Predictions....Not Much Celtics Love
LOY's PLACE a celtics green blog —
... I was most surprised to see that not one "expert" thinks that Doc Rivers will be Coach of the Year. 3 pick the Zen Mistress and we all know that he really isn't that great of a coach. Give him a team that isn't ready made with a superstar or two in place and he would be just another scrub coach. And when he did have 2 superstars on his team, he couldn't manage them. A good coach can manage his players, even if one player is a self centered jerk like Kobe. Flip Saunders and Rick Carlisle each got 3 votes. and Scott Brooks (who?) got 2 votes. ...

The Two Man Game —
... The panel of ESPN experts have released their predictions for the NBA’s regular season awards. Rick Carlisle received 3 votes (which puts him in a tie with Flip Saunders and Phil Jackson for the most votes) for Coach of the Year, Shawn Marion netted a mention for Most Improved, and Jason Terry, somewhat inexplicably, only received a single vote for the Sixth Man Award. Look, I love Marquis Daniels. But I can’t even begin to explain how Daniels topped Terry in votes. ...

Special wag of the finger goes to Chris Sheridan and Royce Webb of ESPN.com for predicting that Mike Dunleavy will get Coach of the Year. Wow...I'm speachless. ... That's all I ask for. ... Coach Carlisle is in a league of his own. He doesn't do things like everybody else."
If there's a point of pride in Carlisle's way of doing things, that would be it.
"You can never be too good a communicator," he says. "I try to be very honest because I feel there's a definite correlation between how a team responds to communication and the value of the power of truth.
