The numbers don't lie...or do they?

I'm not going to argue with the computer. Footballoutsiders came out with their preseason numbers, and again, HAL is not on our side. According to the computers, the Colts came out with the 2nd best offense (behind New England) and the WORST defense in the league. Apparently the numbers say that the Colts D will be markedly worse this year than last year. There's no point in slamming FO; they admit that the numbers look skewed. ...

Browns vs. Steelers Preview

... Okay, let's get to the preview. As the season progresses, I will be able to cite more actual statistics, but for now, since no games have been played, we're going to have to rely on Football Outsiders' DVOA Projections, which do a reasonable job of predicting how teams will perform (seriously, 2006 Saints notwithstanding, the DVOA projections consistently do a better forecasting job than any other statistical model or individual expert, be he media analyst or gambling guru). Just bear in mind that in future weeks, there will be many more statistics in these previews, and the information will be more reliable.Browns offense vs. Steelers defense: CLE offense PIT defense ...

... The Defensive Line:  Football Outsiders has projected the Redskins to have a top 4 defense this season.  I don’t think that is anywhere near reasonable.  Anthony Montgomery is the key to everything here as it is somewhat of a surprise that he beat out Kedric Golston for the starting DT job.  Corneilius Griffin has returned healthy, and if Montgomery can be a rock in the middle of the line and provide a pass rush, maybe just maybe it will squelch some of my fears of our run defense.  An impact player in the middle of this line would fix a lot of problems though. ...
