... the cardinals are the consensus choice at the Hardball Times to win the nl central. 8 of the 15 predictors over there think the cardinals will win; 5 picked the cubs, 2 the brewers.

... Check out the THT staff predictions. Don’t shoot me but I had the Mets going to the World Series. Luckily they get beaten by the Red Sox in the Fall Classic. Oh, and the other good news is that the Braves with the division with the Mets taking the wild card. Crazy, eh?

... According to the THT Staff, the Mets are the consensus wild card winner in the National League. The good folks pick the Phillies to finish first and the Braves to wind up third, though the Mets are the consensus National League champs.

... s stellar 6 inning, 7 strikeout performance that was ruined.   Jennings left the game with a 2-1 lead (he only surrendered a solo HR to Xavier Nady in the 2nd).   Chad Qualls, who gave up the big HR to Jason Bay the night before,   pitched 1 inning of solid   relief Tuesday night.   This time it was   RP Dan   Wheeler to self-destruct.   With one out, Jack Wilson reached on a bunt single, then advanced after Wheeler walked Jason Bay.   After Adam LaRoche lined out, Ronny Paulino & Xavier Nady hit consecutive singles, which scored   a pair of runners.   Another Astros loss, & a lot of frustrated fans.   After Houston ' s latest loss, Brewer Nation   issued the following statement:   "We want to take a moment to   acknowledge the fine efforts of the Houston Astros bullpen ... keep   up the great work, fellows!"     WHAT   SAY YOU, WRITERS   OF THE HARDBALL TIMES ?               Here are some 2007 predictions from the   writers at the excellent   MLB weblog, The Hardball Times :
