Chicago Fire 2008 Kits

... out on the home shirt, the white background is a shocking piece of bad taste.
Chicago Fire 2008 Away Kit
The away shirt also has the sponsor’s logo with a different colored background, but it clashes much less with the rest of the shirt. Chicago’s tradition of wearing white on the road will also continue, much to the enjoyment of fans of the traditional powerhouse.

... Chivas USA 2008 Away Kit
The away kit is the opposite of the home kit: a white shirt with red stripes. I would think they might go for an all-white kit so that they are a little easier to distinguish, but I suppose if the home kit looks decent, which it does, then the away kit also looks decent. Again, the sponsor logo matches the club crest on the left chest, which makes it blend nicely.

... 2008 Away Kit
The away kit is also a nice color. “COLORADO” is written in place of the shirt sponsor in this case, the tradition for MLS away kits. Seeing as how I have a goalkeeper kit this color and also a tie for special occasions, I am perhaps biased towards this light blue color, but it’s very simple yet elegant. The only problem on the Colorado kits might be the collars; they could probably do without one.

... Columbus Crew 2008 Away Kit
However, the away kit is less than appealing. Again, it’s a Columbus Crew tradition to combine their yellow and black on a kit, but the key with stripes is that they have to be thin. The sponsor logo sits well on this kit also, but the club crest on the left chest almost gets lost in the yellow and black since it is also yellow and black.

... DC United 2008 Away Kit
The away kit is also very traditional, just in white instead of black. The DC players will look a little less intimidating in white than in black, but they will be much happier playing in white in mid-summer heat. Again, there is a lack of writing or logo on the chest, and just the club crest, which sticks out better on white than on black, to distinguish this shirt.

FC Dallas 2008 Kits

... 2008 Away Kit
The away shirt is also hooped, but blue and white instead of red and white. This time, “FC DALLAS” is written in red on a blue stripe, in the MLS tradition of team name in place of a sponsor. Last year’s version of this shirt, the gray and white hoops, was far less attractive – not to mention less patriotic both to the state of Texas and the country – than this new red, white, and blue assembly.

... same light blue stripe running down it. The sponsor, Amigo Energy, has their logo in black, which matches the club crest on the left chest. Not a bad look at all for a team looking to be the first to win three MLS Cups in a row. When they run out of the tunnel in any opposition stadium, they will be anything but loud about their appearance until they start playing, after which everybody will definitely notice their presence.

Kansas City Wizards 2008 Away Kit
The away kit is also simple and still attractive. The team name is written across the chest in blue, with the rest of the shirt being mainly white. The blue accents make this a distinguishable kit, but don’t take up too much of the viewer’s attention. Kansas City will look good both at home and on the road in this season’s kits.

LA Galaxy 2008 Kits

... to look at. There are two different shades of dark blue in the main part of the shirt. The collar has made another appearance, but instead of making this kit look classy and traditional, it makes it look slightly childish. The thin, yellow accents are well done, as are the logos on the chest. Maybe next year the Galaxy should look at having a yellow shirt of this shade, just like they used to when they were winning trophies.

... better, but only just. The same accents are on this shirt, but instead it’s dark blue on the sleeves and red on the sides. Again, this is just a way to get all three colors of the American flag on a shirt, but if the old US National Team kits are anything to go by, sometimes it’s best to not have all three of our colors on a shirt because they just don’t go well together. However, the flag-imitating club crest looks just fine.

... away shirt is sadly lacking in color. A good white base with red trim under the sleeves is not a bad way to start, but without another accenting color above the chest, this kit looks unfinished. The one thing I will say is that I definitely like the way the Xango logo matches the crest. Overall, not a bad kit, but if it’s going to be white, it should either be all white, or have a little bit more color than it does right now.

... of fans will probably disagree with me on this one, but I also like the away kit. The Red Bull logo looks much better on a blue background than it does on a white one. Also, the grayish accents Adidas added to this kit somehow make it look better to me. Nonetheless, the Red Bull kits are very unique in the entire world of soccer. The only team that they might be confused with is their Austrian counterparts, Red Bull Salzburg.

... 2008 Away Kit
The white away shirt beckons more to the older days. The white and light blue, with “EARTHQUAKES” stamped on the chest, looks like something the club might have worn before they disbanded in 2005. One detail that may be overlooked, but which does a lot for this kit, is the black line bordering the light blue accents, which both contrasts the blue and white colors, and also matches the club crest.

On the road, they will wear a gray shirt with black and white accents. It is the same shirt that Adidas made them for their home matches except for the change of colors. The sponsor logo is also two separate colors on this shirt, which makes it look a little disjointed, but that is a minor flaw. Overall, if it’s not broke, then don’t fix it, and that’s why the away shirt looks so similar to the home shirt.
