Another fine installment of Football University at Mile High Report.
Lots of good stuff from Bob Gretz in his latest column -- "Derrick Johnson is on the cusp of becoming one of the NFL’s most complete linebackers."
Anyone else forget that Samie Parker signed with Denver?
I'm not much of a gambler but I know enough to say that these odds aren't good for the Chiefs.

Vegas Has No Love for the Cats

... you realize they play in the NFC South, they have a new running back, a revamped offensive line and a slew of “new” wide receivers. I’m not saying we’re the favorite to win the division (uh, but we should be), although I think 7.5 is probably a little low. Although, in fairness, it is early, and a lot of these bets are predicated on drawing in public money. So we’ll just pretend we’re not insulted and go out and hang 12-4 on Vegas.

There's some interesting stuff in here for the enterprising folks among you who
feel confident about projecting NFL win totals in mid-May.
If you're not gambling inclined (unlike my friend Crazy Fish Guy), let's take
a second and understand what we're looking at here. The over/under, the number
in the column immediately to the right of the team name, represents the number

... , from the old news department it somehow escaped my finely tuned degenerative gambling radar that the Vegas lines came out on the 32 NFL team's over/under record. I don't remember many of us picking much fewer wins than 7 on the season, though I recall a few of you saying we had 8-10 in the tank. If you still feel that way, I encourage you to call your bookie. Here are the opening lines for all the teams: ...

... Coca-Cola 600 one week later, but it was worse than ever Sunday at Dover. "Clean air is king," Greg Biffle said. "The car four or five lengths back from the leader just can't get any closer." It's the same thing we've heard 100 times this season. The new car has it's moments when it provides close racing, especially at short tracks and restrictor-plate races. Then you see a yawner like Sunday and the questions start all over again. Vegas posts the over/under numbers for the NFL season … Vanderslice turns up in ...

... 21? I certainly am. **** Kenny Perry loves the Memorial. Doesn't it seem like he's always scratching at the door every week, but yet only three top 10s. **** More reason to get guys like Chris Davis, Max Ramirez and others into the big leagues. **** Doesn't it seem former players are becoming more vocal about wanting coaching jobs? Former Mav Tim Hardaway can't get a gig. **** TO should know better. **** Over/unders out for NFL season wins. Dallas at 10.5. I'll take the under.
