The Eastern all-stars
james mirtle —
The NHL released the full rosters for the Eastern Conference today at noon. The team looks reasonably close to the one I put together Wednesday , with a few tweaks to try and fit in a player from every team. Players missing: Tim Thomas, Henrik Lundqvist, Paul Martin, Tobias Enstrom, Mats Sundin, Alex Kovalev Players on team: Tomas Vokoun, Rick DiPietro, Tomas Kaberle, Kimmo Timonen, Marian Hossa, Eric Staal Sundin and Kovalev are pretty glaring omissions if you ask me: Both have more goals, more points and a better plus-minus than Hossa and Staal. I've got no problem ...
Ovechkin An All-Star

The Eastern Conference All-Star roster has been released and, to no one's surprise, Alex Ovechkin has been named to the team for the second time. Voters were unmoved, however, by the draft Mike Green ...

Thrashers two main guys will be there. I'm guessing Enstrom will be invited to the Young Stars Game as well.

Markov will be only Hab at All-Star Game
Habs Inside/Out —
The NHL has announced the Eastern Conference roster for the 2008 All-Star Game in Atlanta and the only Hab on the roster is defenceman Andrei Markov, who was voted in as a starter. Alex Kovalev, whom Guy Carbonneau said should be considered since he is having an excellent season, was not on the roster.

A.O. An All-Star, Green Snubbed
Bleatings From a Caps Nut —
No surprises that I can see. While we already knew that A.O. would not be starting the All-Star Game, it was a forgone conclusion that he would make the Eastern Conference team. There was some question as to whether or not Mike "BEAM ME UP" Green would make it. Well, he didn't. And just like A.O. not starting, whoop-de-doo... As I've said before, I don't care about the All-Star game. I don't even know when it is and I don't care because I won't bother watching. The much maligned Reebok jerseys were first introduced at the game last ...
Guess Who's Going to the All-Star Game

... only having 5 points in his last 14 games, he's still averaging a point per game as he puts in over 20 minutes of ice-time each night including time on both the powerplay and penalty kill. He may be stretched thin with the absence of Joe Sakic and Ryan Smyth but it's amazing how complete a player he is at such a young age. ... in recent days. But at least we have Aaron Ward back on the blue line. Matt Lashoff was sent down, after a couple of less-than-great games. Vladimir Sobotka was recalled. And at today's practice, P.J. Axelsson and Chuck Kobasew were missing. Coach Claude Julien said one could miss tomorrow's game against the Flyers. Not to get all Debbie Downer on ya, but there's one more thing. Chara will be the only player representing the Bruins at the All-Star game in sixteen days. Marc Savard didn't make the roster , and neither did Tim Thomas. Savard can be understandable considering ...
Brian Campbell selected as the lone Sabre at the all star game
Blue & Gold (of Buffalo) —
... However, like last year the choices for the all star game come across as a little awkward, as the NHL's policy of inviting at least one player from each team leaves quite an odd mix of players in the game. Last year Thomas Vanek wasn't invited to the game despite getting the fifth highest in fan votes as a write in candidate, This year former Sabre Danny Briere who had the fourth most votes, and was the all star game MVP last year, was not named to this years team for no real reason. Also Florida goalie Tomas Vokoun made the team ahead of better goalies like Tim Thomas and Marty ...
