The 46th NHL Entry Draft will be held this year in Ottawa on June 20–21th, 2008. Ottawa was originally scheduled to host the 2005 draft, but instead they held a smaller version at a local hotel with plans to return for a full event as soon as possible. The league recently set up an online 2008 NHL Entry Draft website, and published the final Central Scouting Bureau draft rankings for top North American skaters, top European skaters, top North American goalies, and top European goalies to give fans and media backround information. ...

Remember back in 2006 when the Hurricanes tried to put jerseys on a few statues downtown and some people got upset? One lame-brain went so far as to slash a couple of jerseys apart with a utility knife, before he was told to stop by the police. The remaining jerseys were taken down as well, never to return to their previous “sacred” locations in history.
This nonsense could only happen in Raleigh, right?
Apparently not. According to this article in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the Penguins, (along with Reebok), wanted to hang a couple of huge Stanley Cup related banners on buildings in downtown Pittsburgh. ...

Sure, Alex Ovechkin was an easy pick, but they bucked some conventional wisdom and took Nicklas Backstrom over Phil Kessel in 2006 , and snagged a pair of already full-time NHL defensemen - Jeff Schultz and Mike Green - with two of the last four picks in the 2004 draft (wonder if Dallas is kicking themselves for taking Mark Fistric one spot ahead of Green), a draft from which five Caps picks have already played in the League.
