Tonight is the fourth game of the Stanley Cup Finals Detroit leads the series 2-1 with wins in Game 1 ( 4-0 ) and Game 2 ( 3-0 ). Pittsburgh took Game 3, 3-2 . The Penguins showed up to play Wednesday night and finally made this something of a ...Confluence of the Three Rivers posted 6/1/2008 from mvn.com
So close, yet so far away. Once again, the Detroit Red Wings put on a defensive clinic and got a nice roll of the puck in the third period leading to the winning goal, as the Wings took a commanding 3-1 lead in the Cup Finals with a 2-1 win in Game Four at the Igloo.Posted 6/3/2008 on Big Daddy Sports Fan
The Detroit Red Wings will be looking to hoist the 11th Stanley Cup in franchise history with a win tonite over the Pens. It would be their 4th title in the last 11 years. A 9-1 home playoff mark, including back-to-back shut outs in this series, the Penguins are in a tight spot. They are averaging 1 goal per game in this series. The Wings have 5 players in the locker room with 3 rings each. ThatPosted 6/2/2008 on Red Wings Snapshots - MLive.com
The Macomb Daily's Bruce MacLeod spoke to Red Wings forward Mark Hartigan, who happens to be both a "Black Ace" and, quite possibly, a back-to-back Stanley Cup champion. Hartigan won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Anaheim Ducks...Posted 6/2/2008 on Cuzoogle
Before the NHL playoffs started we asked you to comment on who you think would win the Stanley Cup . Now that the Cup is about to end here is a list of those who are still in the running for the $25 cash prize. I hope you all check back to see if you win. We will post the winner the morning after the Cup is hoisted. Here is the list. The Contenders Kepelus -Detroit Josh King - ...Posted 6/1/2008 on The Puck Stops Here
The Detroit Red Wings are now one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. They defeated Pittsburgh 2-1 in game four of the Stanley Cup finals series to move into a three games to one lead. Marian Hossa scored early in the game to give Pittsburgh a lead, but Detroit answered back with a Nicklas Lidstrom goal in the first period and a Jiri Hudler goal in the third. They secured the win by killingPosted 5/31/2008 on Igloo Dreams
Detroit Red Wings (1) at Pittsburgh Penguins (2) Detroit leads series 2-1. Well it all hinges on this one, doesn't it? If the Pens can pull out another stirring win at home, they'll be squared away with the Wings heading back to Detroit. If they can't... well, let's just say the Detroit victory parade might go off as planned. Expect the Pens to stick with the same lineup as Game 3 (no Letang , ...Posted 5/30/2008 on Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole
Typically, when a series is tied 2-2, the Game Five is often referred to as "the swing game". To me, Game Four is the "swing game" in this series. Game Four will determine the Stanley Cup winner. If Detroit can steal a win in front of an electric Mellon Arena crowd, that'll be enough to put any notion of a Cup victory for the Penguins out of reach. Pittsburgh would then head back the "The ...Posted 5/29/2008 on The Puck Stops Here
After two games where the Detroit Red Wings dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins and did not allow the Penguins any goals (and few legitimate scoring opportunities), the Penguins have come back and won game three of the Stanley Cup finals 3-2. This win may put Pittsburgh back into the series (it is also possible that the Penguins roll over and die in games four and five). It was a Pittsburgh win,Posted 5/28/2008 on On the Wings
Tonight is the the third game of the Stanley Cup Finals. Detroit leads the series 2-0 with two wins at home ( 4-0 , 3-0 ). Pittsburgh is facing another of those must-win situations in which they can technically still afford to lose. If they fall to the Wings tonight, they won’t be done, but they might as well be. If they win, they are back in the series and have a chance to make it ...Posted 5/28/2008 on Igloo Dreams
Detroit Red Wings (1) at Pittsburgh Penguins (2) Detroit leads series 2-0. So from where I'm standing, tonight is the Game of the Year for the Pens. If they win, they have a chance to go back to Detroit with the momentum and a series tied 2-2. If they lose, the series is effectively over. It's a huge swing either way. The Igloo should be a madhouse tonight. The fans really need to get behind ...TOFTT posted 5/22/2008 from takingonefortheteam.blogspot.com
