 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs
DETROIT -- Brad Stuart is still looking for someplace to call home after way too many stops in the last couple seasons for a 28-year-old defenseman with the kind of skill the Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, native possesses. In one of those strange and ironic stories, Stuart has spent time in Boston, Calgary, Los Angeles and now Detroit since the start of the 2006-07 season. But there's good ... [link]

Time For Brad Stuart To Settle Down
Published 5/27/2008 by Paul at KK Hockey
from Larry Wigge of NHL.com, Stuart realizes he may have to give in when it comes to salary to stay in Detroit, but the results of the last 27 games for Brad seem to indicate the two sides should be able to get a deal done. After Stuart was a minus-16 in his first 63 games in Los Angeles this season, the game plan in Detroit to take advantage of the defense’s mobility and skills certainly plays right into Brad’s wheelhouse. “Coach Babcock spelled out what he wanted me to do, what my role was from Day 1,” Stuart acknowledged. “The game plan is what you would expect from a winning team like this: Keep it simple ... and if you see you can make a play or make a ...

Osgood: Cute, Like Puppy
Published 5/27/2008 at Kuklas Korner
From People Magazine: Kristen Bell says there’s one person she’s never forgetting: Detroit Red Wings star Chris Osgood. Maybe not a household name to non-hockey fans, but Bell says that growing up as a tomboy in Detroit, she considered Osgood “my first crush.” “Brad Pitt be damned – he had nothing on Osgood’s rookie skill and sad eyes,” Bell, 26, says on NHL.com. “There was actually a day in high school when I wrote on a name tag ‘Mrs. Osgood’ and wore it the whole day. I really thought we were perfect for each other. I’d love to meet him ...

Kristen Bell's crush on Osgood, Stanley Cup sponge bath wish
Published 5/28/2008 at Puck Daddy
Actress Kristen Bell has this exceptional ability to stir every geek passion imaginable. Sci-Fi geeks loved her for "Veronica Mars," her stint on "Heroes" and for donning the gold bikini of Princess Leia in the unreleased "Star Wars"-inspired flick "Fanboys." (Although we much prefer her as a blonde.) Comedy geeks welcomed her into the cult of Apatow with her starring turn in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." And, of course, puckheads love Bell for her passionate support of the Detroit Red Wings, admitting that she actually cried when they were eliminated by the Anaheim ...

Kristen Bell Wants A Stanley Cup Sponge Bath
Published 5/28/2008 at FanIQ Blog
I'm often asked what it would take for me to become an NHL fan. My answer usually goes one of two ways: a) nothing or b) all other sports cease to exist. I'd like to change my stance. In an interview with NHL.com this week, the beautiful Miss Kristen Bell, a huge hockey fan, was asked what she would do with the Stanley Cup for one day: "I would start by eating an entire box of Fruity Pebbles out of it. Then I'd take an afternoon sponge bath in it. Then I'd retro fit it with handles and make it into a Stanley Cup handbag." Kristen Bell + Fruity Pebbles + Sponge Bath = I love ...

Image borrowed from ohnotheydidnt. Please don't ask me why I was there in the first place This is for all the male readers and like minded female readers as NHL.com has an interview with Detroit native Kristen Bell about her love of the Red Wings. Here's a sneak peek: NHL.com: Do you remember your first hockey game, or the beginning of your interest in the sport? KB: I was 14 years old and kind of a tomboy-- and all the guys I was friends with loved the Wings. They always wanted to play street hockey too – and I did whatever they did. I broke both my ...

Kristen Bell Would Do Naughty Things To Chris Osgood [Heroes]
Published 5/28/2008 by Rick Chandler at Deadspin
I've had that dream again: Elle Bishop from the TV show Heroes is taking a sponge bath in the Stanley Cup. What does it mean? Actually, it's based in truth: Actress Kristen Bell is a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings — specifically of Chris Osgood — and would also like to get some time alone with the Stanley Cup itself. At least according to this NHL.com interview. When asked what she would do if she had the Stanley Cup for a day, Bell responded: I would start by eating an entire box of Fruity Pebbles out of it. Then I'd take an afternoon sponge bath in it. Then I'd retro fit it ...

While I'm at it-
Published 6/4/2008 by Ritch (noreply@blogger.com) at American Hockey Fan
Kristen Bell must be devastated. It's sad to see someone who has had such a tough year, what with her great career, killer body, tons of fans and a hit movie playing right now suffering through such a tough Red Wing loss on Monday. I mean, if the Wings don't pull this off, she'll have to suffer through the existence of being a gorgeous movie star whose hockey team has only won three cups in the past decade. If anyone has an address when we can send our condolances, I will certainly post it in this space. Chin up, Kristen- there's gotta be a silver lining somewhere. You just have to look for it.

Dominant Wings have upstart Penguins all fowled up

Machinelike Wings taking life out of Penguins

If we were the Pittsburgh Penguins, we would be demanding the NHL do wholesale DNA tests on the Detroit Red Wings. Because, two games into the Stanley Cup finals, the Wings are looking anything but human. Machinelike, certainly otherworldly, the Wings have controlled every facet of this series and reduced the talent-laden Pittsburgh Penguins to a collection of matchstick men.
