Here we go, the first of 30 collaborative team previews in March. Make sure to check out Nick the Greek’s thoughts over at Home Run Derby . Kicking us off are the Kansas City Royals, the team with the fewest homeruns in 2007 at 102. That stat leads directly to my… Bold Statement The 2008 Royals will double their homerun total from last year. Ok, maybe they won’t ... (link)

30 Teams, 30 Days: Day 1 - Kansas City Royals - Ugghhh!!
Published 3/1/2008 by Nick the Greek at Home Run Derby
And so we begin our journey to preview 30 teams in 30 days.  Be sure to check out SkyKing’s preview too !  We start in Kansas City (order was determined by team homeruns in 2007), a team that hit a paltry 102 Home Runs last year on its way to slugging .388 as a team.  Just to provide some contrast, the Milwaukee Brewers hit over two times a many dingers (231) and slugged almost 70 points higher (.456).  Good lord it is hard to be a Royal fan.  It is even harder to talk about the long ball for a team that had only two players: John Buck (18) and rookie Alex Gordon (15) hit ...

Huber Is Not Going to Make it Easy
Published 3/1/2008 by Clark Fosler at Royals Authority
... I can see that Huber might force his way onto the roster permanently. Say Huber gets eight or nine starts at DH or even (gulp) left field and goes 11 for 27 or something like that while at the same time Butler does not embarrass himself at first. Would that be enough for the Royals to give Huber a shot as the everyday DH? Just something to think about. Yesterday, I participated in a Roundtable discussion about the Royals. You can read it at Home Run Derby and at Sky King 162. One thing I learned from the discussion was that I remain one of the ...

30 in 30 preview — part un
Published 3/1/2008 by Chris Rasmussen at Bugs & Cranks
Well, the fine folks at Home Run Derby and Sky King have the first part of their 30-part preview of the 2008 baseball season up and you can click on the links. I find myself every season discounting the upcoming season’s results and looking toward its effects on a the future.  I guess that makes me baseball’s version of a Marxist:  forever looking forward to a distant, theoretical utopia in which all of my dreams will come to fruition. Also, I want everyone richer than me to share their money.

... responses, which were surely of interest to many baseball fans. Ducksnorts posted part 1 of an interview with Denis Savage and John Conniff of Mad Friars. Good stuff. I don’t follow the minors as much as I’d like year round, but whenever I check in on Mad Friars I learn something new about the Padres’ system. Tom Krasovic talks with Padres owner John Moores. Fun roundtable with a bunch of good baseball bloggers. Skyking and Nick the Greek are doing previews of all 30 teams. Here’s part 3 ...
