The ever-popular partial season
LEEInks — ... But while there was a certain degree of absurdity in the process, it now seems that Clemens may have been a harbinger. Curt Schilling (shameless plug: No. 38 is now writing for this very website!) has made clear that, if he returns to baseball in 2009, it will be for a partial season. Ty Law jumped into the fray for the Jets against the Patriots a couple of weeks ago and promptly helped to shut down Randy Moss for a full game (a development that Michael Felger (shamless plug No. 2!) ...

Curt Schilling: Yankees did nothing wrong by signing Teixeira
Zell's Pinstripe Blog   For the first time in a long time I agree with something Curt Schilling said . He is one guy I never liked or wanted on my team, but he speaks the truth in this case. Schilling spoke out about the Yankees obtaining Mark Teixeira off the free agent market, and he is basically saying that the Yankees did nothing wrong. Check it out: from 38 Pitches: Personally I am glad Youk is staying at first and Mike is at third. Adding Mark’s bat is absolutely going to make the Yankees tougher.  Haven’t we been down this road before? That’s not to say this Yankees team can’t win 110 games, ...

Dugout Central — ... I shower.  Hot.  Steam.  Cover the mirror with the steam to cover my scars.  My arthroscopies; my ‘07 elbow and ‘98 knee.  A rib that never really healed properly.  The balding head.  The loneliness from being alone with nobody else around.  I contemplate all of this and wonder if my real contemporaries who are done still go through this, Schilling, ...

Curt Schilling “I have never taken steroids, so you don’t have to call the union
Digital Sports Daily — ... One hundred and four players made the wrong decision, and it appears that not only was it 104, but three of the greatest of our, or any, generation appear to be on top of this list.” “And before anyone asks, I’ll make it clear: My name will not appear on any lists of positive tests. I’ve never tested positive for steroids or HGH, and I’ve never taken steroids or HGH in my life, ever. You don’t need to call the union, or an agent to verify that.” via 38 Pitches.

Oh… ...

A-Rod's latest mess
Florida Marlins | Sun-Sentinel Blogs — ... I don't find myself agreeing with Curt Schilling much anymore, but his point on his latest blog post about the need to release all 104 names who tested positive for PEDs in 2003 is well-taken. That's the only way to clear the names of the 900 or so players who appeared in the majors at some point that year and avoided a positive test. ...

Enough Already
Athletics Nation — UPDATE: A-Rod confesses. Not very often I find myself agreeing with Curt Schilling who had this to say on his latest blog entry: "I'd be all for the 104 positives being named, and the game moving on if that is at all possible...In my opinion, if you don't do that, then the other 600-700 players are going to be guilty by association, forever...It appears that not only was it 104, but three of the greatest of our, or any, generation appear to be on top of this list." The opinionated, often polarizing, and as of this submission, retired major league hurler is never one to back away from a controversial topic.  Schilling has weighed in on everything from steroids to the most recent Presidential election.  The three-time World Series champion, 2001 World Series co-MVP, and 200 game winner created 38 Pitches, which is arguably the most candid website attributed to a professional athlete.  This isn't just some fan site created by a web geek hired by the player that they never touch.  This is an ...

Curt Schilling hits Roger Clemens with another verbal cream pie
Red Sox Monster — With March Madness set to take over America, Curt Schilling has been running a feature on his 38 Pitches blog this week that compares some of the greatest pitchers in major league history. It's not rocket science, but it's an interesting enough take. With each hurler, Schilling has posted a few words of historical background, typically with some sort of compliment. For example, when Bob Gibson's name came up, he said, "I had the pleasure of sitting down and doing an interview with him for the Sporting News back in the '90's and he struck me as an incredibly kind and honest ...

Irrelevant Bracketology or Bust
Why's My Head Growing? — ... Apparently Curt Schilling thinks he's clever. I wonder how that's working out for him? Adding to the mind-retarding annoyance that is March Madness bracketing, Schilling's been running his own novelty version: a bracket pitting some of history's greatest pitchers, head-to-head. Personally, I think he should have created a bracket featuring intolerable ex-athlete douchebags who have gaping mouths and a thick, cement-like skulls, but what the fuck do I know? Anyway, nothing gets stat-rats all hot and bothered like a good old "better than" debate, so if you're one ...

Schilling Hangs Up His Cleats
The House That Dewey Built — According to a pretty good source, former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling has decided to retire from baseball. You had to figure it was a strong possibility given how the past year has gone for #38, but the news still creates a stir of emotions and memories.  For brief period between 2004 and 2005, Schilling was easily the most worshiped figure in New England (even more so than that 2,000-year-old bearded dude).  Although he’s become more of a polarizing figure of late, he’s still a revered icon for the most part.  Rightfully so, I’d say. So, ...

Prospectus Today: Curt Schilling Bows Out by Joe Sheehan
Baseball Prospectus — March 24, 2009 Prospectus Today Curt Schilling Bows Out by Joe Sheehan Alas, 38 pitches no more. Curt Schilling announced the end of his baseball career yesterday via a post on his popular blog, writing "it is with zero regrets that I am making my retirement official." In those other 6 games in which Schilling did not receive a decision; his team was still 3-3. In those 6 games Schill pitched 8, 8, 7, 7.1, 7 and 4.2 innings respectively.
