Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski announced today that the team has signed rookie Marreese Speights, the 16th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Speights (6-10/245) appeared in five games for the Sixers at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 18.2 points along with team-highs of 10.2 rebounds and 2.20 blocks. Entering today's games, he was one of three players averaging a double-double in Vegas. [link]

The 0-2 record doesn't mean much....but Wizards fans can't exactly be pleased with the "veteran" qualities that Nick Young has brought to the table in Vegas this year. We all expect him to show more experience in the summer league.

Canada And Dalembert Part Ways

Canada is currently playing in the FIBA Olympic qualifier in Greece, trying to qualify for the Bejing Olympics. Coming into the tournament, the biggest star on their roster, and only NBA player, was not Steve Nash, but rather Philadelphia 76ers center, Samuel Dalembert. Last year Dalembert took the steps needed to gain Canadian citizenship so that he could play for the national team.
