July 8 --- MVN Soccer: Charleston Battery, a USL-1 team, defeated FC Dallas; because they will meet Seattle Sounders in their semifinal, this guarantees a non-MLS team in the U.S. Open Cup Final for the first time since 1999. --- The Sounders defeated Kansas City in a PK shootout; same was required to send on defending champs NE Revolution, who will meet DC United in their semi (both August 12).
