kellex +2This absolutely angers the hell out of me! Softie ass parents and crooked league commissioners...kids athletics have become even more of a joke than when I was a kid, and I didn't think that was possible. -
The Zoner 40 mph? I'm pretty sure my 5 year old throws that hard. That can't be right...

Hey Kid, The Padres Have A Rotation Spot Open

I love stories like this so let me take a deep breath before diving in. OK, here goes. Nine-year-old Jericho Scott of New Haven, Connecticut is apparently just too damn good at baseball. Scott is a right-handed pitcher whose fastball tops out at around 40 mph. That's so hard some parents don't want their kids to have to face him. They voiced their complaints and the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that Scott he was no longer allowed to pitch. Well, when little Jericho took the mound again last week the opposing team just up and forfeited the ...
Parents suck

... Parents suck. When parents have to resort to lawsuits, calling the police and other sorts of unseemly things --all because a 9-year-old kid is too good of a pitcher-- then you know things have spiraled waaay out of control. ...

... We, as Americans, like to believe we’re in a meritocratic society, one where gumption, skill, and diligence can compensate for all but the most grievous errors of caprice and circumstance.
And, as such, this is troubling.
Jericho Scott is a nine-year-old who throws a baseball 40 miles per hour. Chances are, excepting Latarian Milton, he’s the only person of that age who can manipulate a body other than phlegm with that kind of velocity.
And, given that fact, I’ll bet that baseball is a lot of fun for him. Who ...
That 40 MPH Fastball Has More Heat On It Than You Think

... When I was younger, I was so good at soccer, baseball, basketball and football that teams feared playing me. It wasn’t so much a fear of death, but a fear of getting embarrassed. Well, my athletic prowess has been surpassed, because there’s a nine year old out there that’s so good at baseball other teams are refusing to play. ...
Political correctness, or how we learned to reward mediocrity.

ESPN.com has an article up about how a little league pitcher has been told that he is too good to play. It really makes me want to punch people in the face. I guess a lot of things do that as I move into my cranky old age. Hey! Get off my lawn! Anyway, this really does speak volumes about how politically correct our culture has gotten. This player is "too good" because he's better than the other players. Guess what you useless new-age parents? Your kid isn't great at everything. Your neighbors kids aren't great at everything. Not everyone is a ...

... instead of one of the God-awful arms in the bullpen. Nobody will miss Boof Bonser. There were these statements , in which Ron Gardenhire questioned Lamb's energy that give some indication of why he was cut. I wouldn't have had much energy either if I was losing to an obviously inferior player. But at least Lamb is taking it pretty well. In other poor baseball related decision making news... Oh Charlie . In other pitchers I wouldn't mind seeing in the Twins bullpen news . Labels: Links of the Day , Minnesota Twins
When young players are "too good"

No time to analyze this, but I wanted to call attention to this story about a youth baseball league in New Haven that has prohibited a 9-year-old on one team from pitching because he is "too good" (he throws 40 MPH, apparently with control) and now has taken steps to disband the team. There also seem to be some sub-surface issues about personal disputes between the adults running the league. ...

Forget Sidney Ponson, the Yankees need this kid from New Haven who’s too good for his league.

... on field reaction through heckling. No, you're pathetic. If the first sentence of this over-played story doesn't make you a little sick in your mouth, so that you feel that acidic burn in the back of your throat, you probably think LOL Cats is funny. I hate your fucking guts. Hey, Scott Boras still represents everything that's wrong about baseball (and I don't just mean Alex Rodriguez). It's good to know that some things are constant. This kid's mechanics are totally off. I'm guessing whatever movie studio made Radio is ...
