... And now, via this adorable little story at the superb DC Sports Bog yesterday afternoon, comes a report of Caron attending the birthday party of a random 16-year-old kid from the neighborhood. The family sent the birthday boy's kid sister over to Caron's house to invite him to the party, and he showed up, brought a jersey and some shoes, and hung out with high school kids for an afternoon.
Caron Butler Is a Good Guy

... , we've become privy to nearly all of their locker room antics. If you didn't already like this team, the following story will surely change your mind. Caron Butler recently attended a surprise birthday party for a 16 year old kid in the D.C. area. What's great about this is that it wasn't some PR stunt; the kid's family dropped an invitation to the party in Butler's mailbox, and to their surprise, he actually showed up. So the party planning went on. On the day of the surprise, May 12, Anthony's dad took him out to the driving range. About a dozen friends came over and waited in the basement. "And then I see a black Range Rover coming up my driveway," Marie told me. "I looked out and I said 'Oh my God, Caron Butler is here...We just went downstairs, opened the door to the basement, and Caron Butler's just over there chilling with my friends," [16 year old] Anthony told me. "I couldn't say an

- Wonderful story over at the D.C. Sports Bog about a surprise appearance by the Washington Wizards’ Caron Butler at a fan’s 16th birthday party. I mean, isn’t this every kid’s dream? (Okay, there are other things post-pubescent teens dream about and wish for, but we’re not going there.) You come home and sitting there on your couch is an NBA all-star, who chills with you and your friends, gives you an autographed poster and pair of sneaks, and puts Gilbert Areanas on the phone with you as he leaves. Very cool, Caron.

... Caron Butler recently got invited to some kid’s birthday party, and much to the surprise of everyone involved, he actually showed up. As jaded and as we are about any good deeds in the world of sport nowadays, we approached this story with some skepticism, thinking that there must have been some sort of ulterior motive involved. And truth be told, as we realized that this was just a legitimate act of good tidings by an unusually cool famous dude, our slightly mischievous side had us hoping to read that Caron had at the very least announced his presence at the party by jumping out of the birthday cake arm in arm with a stripper as the kids screamed in glee.

"I said 'It's a surprise party, everyone's in the basement'," Marie recalled, and so Caron Butler went down into the basement to watch the NBA playoffs with a bunch of high school sophomores who were waiting to surprise their buddy. About 10 minutes later, Anthony arrived home, with his dad.
