The guy can definitely play and score goals. However, I think MLS needs players that are even "bigger" than this guy. Players who will bring attention from the rest of the world. This guy, even though is really talented, is not as well-known as others like Schelotto, Blanco, Angel or Ljungberg. ...

... bit short, and our shopping needs will depend upon Tommy's tactical approach going forward, though I'd argue that having some depth here would increase our flexibility. Simms and Vide are decent options, but I'm sure most of us are pretty much expecting that Olsen will not return. If he does, fantastic!, we probably only need a draft pick to fill out the numbers. If not, I'd say we have both shopping and drafting to do. An interesting addendum to this section of the discussion would be the Goffmeister's recent story about Appiah . DC United turned down Stephen Appiah?
DC United —
Seriously? Apparently, yes.
If you don’t know who Stephen Appiah is, you aren’t paying close attention. He’s not Beckham or Blanco, but he’s a player that excels internationally, and has a good club record. Oh, also, he’s now being courted by AC Milan.
The issue appears to be that Gallardo won’t leave, even if he’s being pushed. Also, the upgrade for Emilio appears to be a little shortsighted, as if he wasn’t on a DP salary, it would have been possible to have Appiah and Gallardo. The FO may not have paid for ...

However, management determined the $2 million salary figure was more than it would be willing to spend on a designated player and the situation fizzled.
