The news on this already crazy afternoon/evening keeps getting crazier. John Sterling appeared with Mike and the Mad Dog earlier this afternoon to say that the chance that A-Rod will be back with the Yankees is 101% out of 100%.... [link]

... And now, supposedly, the Yanks want to get Lowell to play first for them. For Lowell to accept their offer, he'd be saying, "I care about money more than I do about winning AND I'd change positions and play for my rival if enough dough is thrown at me." That's not the Mike Lowell I know.

Well, this was sure fast. After Alex Rodriguez announced today he was opening up talks with the Yankees, it looks like a deal is all but locked up. According to Peter Abraham of the LoHud Yankees Blog, A-Rod is set to re-up with the Yankees to the tune of $275 million for 10 years. (Not quite the $350 million Scott Boras was hoping for, huh?)
