... According to PeteAbe, A-Rod could be a week away from rejoining the Yankees. Right now, the Yanks hope to ship A-Rod and his strained quad down to Tampa tomorrow. He’ll workout at the Yankees’ complex over the weekend and test his leg in games on Monday and Tuesday before hopefully rejoining the Yankees in Tampa on Wednesday. Sounds good to me. ...

Posada’s importance can’t be underestimated

So, Alex Rodriguez heads to Tampa soon to begin his rehab assignment.
The Yankees, no doubt, can use his bat. They did have Shelley Duncan and his .192 batting average in the cleanup spot last night.
But, even when A-Rod returns the Yankees will still be without Jorge Posada. I asked recently which player was a bigger loss to the Yankees. The poll results favored A-Rod, but only by 53-47%.
Respected New York sportswriter Phil Pepe made an impassioned case for Posada possibly being more valuable that Rodriguez in a column yesterday on YesNetwork.com
