Adam Jones: Don't Call Me Pacman
Adam Jones: Don't Call Me Pacman
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Pacman Jones doesn't want to be known as Pacman anymore. Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that Jones will publicly request this week that he just be known as Adam Jones. Presumably, this is a symbolic gesture on his part to distance himself from his troubled past, as the word "Pacman" has become synonymous with off-field trouble in the NFL. Over the ...

His mama named him Pacman, I'mma call him Pacman
Shutdown Corner — ... idea, and I'll miss it. There aren't a lot of great nicknames in sports anymore, and Pacman's one of them. I hate to see it disappear because a guy can't look at a female without making it rain. We're blaming the nickname here. And the nickname is not the problem. But if that's what the man wants, fine. If we can call Sean Combs 19 different things, and we could all work out the mystery of Prince and what he wanted to be called, we can do this, too. Gracias, FanHouse.

I have always thought the idea that changing his name will somehow make him a new person and wash away the past is just silly. I mean, did anybody actually call Prince "symbol", or "the artist formerly known as…" in anything but mocking terms when he tried the whole name change thing? If Pacman doesn’t want to be called Pacman, I guess I can honor that. But Adam Jones just sounds so boring for such a dynamic player on the field. So I put together a poll ...

Pacman No Longer, Call Him Adam Jones
Larry Brown Sports — ... in order to give all related previous news. If I respected his wishes and went straight with Adam, nothing would register on LBS and you’d be wondering who I was talking about. OK, so I was getting ahead of myself there. Point is that Adam Schefter reported Pacman Jones no longer wants to be addressed by his nickname, and instead wants to be called by his real name from now on — Adam Jones. That’s right, all you brazen fans out there can now burn their P. Jones jerseys — they’re worthless. ...
