Billy Packer Is Out at CBS
Dime Magazine —
... get into the tourney that he feels are undeserving, is something you can bank on every March. And I would agree that his commentary during games can border on obnoxious. Personally, I don’t have a problem with him, but I think it’s a great move to get Kellogg in there. It’s unfortunate that we really only get to hear from Clark during the NCAA Tournament. Do you like Billy Packer? Why do you think fans seem to have such a problem with him? Do you agree with his removal? Our Source: ESPN.com

Goodnight, Sweet Prince
Thirtyfive Seconds —
... Whoa. Whoa. WHOA. We wouldn’t say that we are disappointed at learning that CBS dismissed Billy Packer, but we are surprised - only because we expected Packer to let go of his microphone CBS-logo’d spew stick when it was pried from his cold, dead hands. ...
March Madness Just Got That Much Better
wrigleyville23 —
We will no longer be subjected to Billy Packer during the NCAA tournament.
Billy Packer, RIP (RPI?).
The Hoosier Report —
... Okay, he's not dead, and good for him. But good for us, at least those of us who don't follow the ACC: after allowing him for years to cultivate his reputation as the most loathed college basketball announcer, CBS finally has pulled the plug on Billy Packer (above on left, I think). I'm not sure if I'm thrilled that Clark Kellogg is getting the nod, but literally anyone would have been better than Billy. ...

Around the Oval —
Billy Packer is done broadcasting Final Fours.
I don't know if this means he's done broadcasting altogether, done with the NCAA Tournament, or just done with the last few games, but regardless, less Billy Packer means better broadcasts. I always thought Packer knew his stuff, but he never seemed to enjoy the games the way, for example, Bill Raftery does. If you're a fan of college basketball, you have to see this as a good thing.
Packer will be replaced by Clark Kellogg. Kellogg's not a fantastic play-by-play guy, but I like him better than Packer. ...

Bad Day For Packer Fans
Double Extra Point —
... You retired Brett. Remember that? Leave Aaron Rodgers alone. Everybody knew you were going to pull this 'Diva' thing. Do the right thing and sit out a year and let Aaron Rodgers have a chance. You've made it a no win situation for everybody here. Then again, I hate the Packers so I guess I should be saying carry on. Secondly, CBS is downsizing. Billy Packer is the first victim . I can now start watching college basketball without listening to Billy ...

Billy Packer's Tyranny Has Ended. That Should Be the Story.
Straight Bangin' —
... So let's just come out and say it: Billy Packer will not be missed. He is a crotchety asshole whose basketball broadcasts too often were joyless exercises in petty criticism and fan infuriation. Unquestionably, he understood his subjects, but how sad is the rest of the "analyst" profession that CBS and other media impresarios happily paid such a high price for Packer's basketball ruminations? (To say nothing of the fact that he got plenty of stuff wrong--names, sequences of events, what should have been called, the entire Gerald Henderson fiasco--and never apologized or accepted ...
