Apparently, I gave Matt in Toledo nightmares by merely broaching the possibility that the Tigers might be interested in Pirates shortstop Jack Wilson .  (I do apologize for that, Matt.  But I imagine the Tigers' play over the weekend took over the top spot on your totem pole of horror.)  However, maybe that wasn't just idle speculation by the Washington Post's Dave Sheinin. ... According to the Post-Gazette, rapidly becoming a rag after some of the trade rumors they have started, the Pirates are in discussions with Detroit in a deal that could move Jack Wilson and potentially a reliever to the Detroit Tigers before the 4:00 PM deadline.

Pirates, Tigers still talking about Wilson

The Pirates continued to have talks this morning with Detroit about a trade that would send shortstop Jack Wilson to the Tigers. Neither side was divulging anything other than that the discussions remained open. Detroit also is seeking bullpen help, so it is possible that one of the Pirates' three relievers on the block -- Shawn Chacon, Salomon Torres and Damaso Marte -- could be included.
