Agent Boras defends client Perez | lohud.com | The Journal News Links4
LOS ANGELES - Agent Scott Boras refused to accept that his client, Mets left-hander Oliver Perez, is "erratic." After winning his first two decisions, Perez has lost his last three, and his ERA is just south of 5.00. It really doesn't matter, because by the time Perez hits the free-agent market this winter, he'll do so with a Boras booklet that will make Sandy Koufax pale by comparison. "I ... [link]

Boras Discusses Oliver Perez
Published 5/7/2008 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
... Scott Boras represents impending free agent starter Oliver Perez, who might be in line for a huge payday if he can have another decent year.  John Delcos has heard speculation of a five-year, $60MM starting point.  If Perez can post a sub-4.00 ERA in '08, that price will probably be exceeded.  Boras was in L.A. yesterday, giving reporters his typical spin.  To hear Boras tell it, Perez is ...

Valuing Oliver Perez
Published 5/7/2008 by JC at Sabernomics
Via MetsBlog, according to speculation reported by John Delcos, Scott Boras is seeking a big payday for Oliver Perez after the 2008 season. Assuming that 2007 represents his accurate level of talent for his age-25 season, from 2009–2013 Perez can be expected to generate $54.7 million in revenue. Five years and $60 ...

Arms race; Ollie, Vargas and Armas......
Published 5/9/2008 by Ed Ryan (noreply@blogger.com) at Mets Fever
... Well Scott Boras can compare him to Johan Santana and Sandy Coufax all he wants but the fact is Oliver Perez is battling Mike Pelfrey as the weakest link in the rotation. No, I didn't forget Nelson Figeruoa but it's pretty clear he's only holding down a spot until they can move him to the long-man role. In my opinion while Pelfrey hasn't been impressive, he's at least been consistent. You know what your getting; five innings of 3-5 run ball. But with Perez you have absolutely no idea what your going to get and it's always in the back of your mind that his very next pitch could ...
