What... couldn't think of any tags to use? :-)

I put this note in the ticket that tziller filed, but in case anyone else is wondering as well. Short term fix on the over-abundance of tags: if it's a story that you posted, click on the Edit link below the voting widget on the story page. You can remove any irrelevant tags that you want, or add more if 2 Geoffs aren't enough.

Would it be that bad to force the user to enter the tags? That way only the relevant ones make it. Some posts with round-ups of league-wide news will come up with more tags than needed for the main story.

Once you type in the first couple letters, a drop-down menu could appear with matching possibilities.

The tag entry box does have auto-fill right now, but we need to make it more obvious that people should double-check that the Ballhype-generated tags on the story are correct.

Maybe you're right about requiring users to do the tagging, although it might deter people from submitting... Jason's working on a fix to improve the system's tags. Let's see if he comes up with something good :-)

If the Kings are looking for a new GM, I can recommend a few guys. Gary St. Jean, Dave Twardzik, Chris Mullin-- take your pick.
