The Oklahoma City Thunder, who are off to a league worst 1-12 record, fired head coach P.J. Carlesimo last night following their loss to the New Orleans Hornets 105-80. The loss was the Thunder’s 10th straight loss. Assistant Scott Brooks has been promoted to head coach after the firing. As reported by ESPN: Brooks was told of his promotion after the flight took off. Carlesimo did not make the trip. The National Hockey League (NHL) today announced a marketing alliance with the Champions Hockey League (CHL), the newly formed European club championship under the authority of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The CHL began play on October 8, 2008 in 12 European markets. Based on early success, the pan-European league is already scheduled to expand to 22 markets for next season.
