Believe it or not, Maryland still controls its own fate re: the ACC Championship game, making Saturday's showdown with North Carolina a battle of unlikely division frontrunners -- one of which won't be in first place by the end of the day. The stakes are high, but at least Holly Anderson's ...

... All Tomorrow's Parties - Holly from rivals.com (of EDSBS, Playing the Field, and formerly Ladies... fame) provides a hilarious outsider's view of what it's like to tailgate for a Maryland game. You know the slate of games is weak when College Park is the most interesting destination for a tailgate. She takes a few wrong steps (recommending Ratsies over Chipotle, claiming the crazy Testudo statues are all over campus when really they're all over the state), but it's a really interesting take on the way I spend half the Saturdays from September-November. ...

... Casey Barth shank what would turn out to be a crucial field goal off the left upright. In fact, that drive was UNC's only offensive push of any consequence in the second half; on the others they managed 1, 19, 0, 21 and -2 yards. Hakeem Nicks only had three catches; the offense only one third down conversion. It was one big bag of hurt, and now the Heels have cast themselves back into the rugby scrum of failure with the rest of Coastal Division.
On the bright side, the Boardwalk Fries were good.

Of Course Maryland Beat North Carolina
stetsports.com 11/16/2008 — The bad news? Florida State is likely to be unranked when they visit College Park next week, and if the Terps lose, their road game against the Eagles is likely to be a must win that the Terps won’t likely win.
Beating ranked teams never made Terps fans so queasy.
