Well, this is one helluva story: $124 million hockey star Alexander Ovechkin met his girlfriend on Russia’s version of Facebook. Fanhouse did a spectacular job securing the photos (this is begging for a caption), and the Washington Post today chronicles how Ovechkin wooed her over the phone and by lavishing her with teddy bears and text messages. Washington Capitals star forward Alex Ovechkin "met his new girlfriend, a Moscow college student, on the Internet," according to The Washington Post . Katja was described as a "skinny, tan, blond, hot Russian." "According to her interview with SovSport, the two met online last fall after she clicked on his profile on Odnoklassniki, a Russian equivalent of Classmates.com or Facebook, on which they were linked by a mutual friend.
