  Nice headline in that Sydney Morning Herald article:

  Although he is surrounded by the trappings of fame, future NBA All-Star Andrew Bogut remains a modest all-Australian boy

  Umm.....future NBA All-Star???  Really?  12 points and 8 boards a game will make him an all star?

  By the way, anyone wonder how Bogut's comments are gonna go over in the locker room?  I'm guessing Redd, Bobby Simmons, and Villanueva re going to think he's an even bigger douchebag than he already was....

    Well, he is an Eastern Conference center.

    Then again, his 'American bling bling' teammates might not be as eager to get him the ball next year.

  "Future All Star" : Everyone knows by now that the mainstream media has no idea how to report on a sport such as basketball which isn't widely publicized enough in Australia to rival the top sports (Rugby/League/Cricket etc) -- so I wouldn't read too much into that. It's not a totally outlandish statement anyway.

  Bogut: He has made plenty of arrogant comments in the past, particularly regarding established Australian players and legends. However, there is an element of truth in what he is saying - he just hasn't phrased it very well.

  I don't think people in the United States really know how they are viewed around the world. I'm not trying to stir anyone's emotions too much, but Bogut's opinions are not too different from those of many in other countries.

  Don't close your eyes to objectivity.

  Side Note: As always, Etan's writing is very measured and well written.
