Andy Katz: Big East early season review
Favorite : In a slight nod, it goes to Connecticut over Pitt. The Huskies have the most intimidating force in Hasheem Thabeet (when he wants to be assertive). And they still have a healing all-conference guard in A.J. Price and plenty of depth at every position. Connecticut also proved its ...

Providence isn't dead yet, buuuuuuut.....
friarblog.com — With league play just around the corner, ESPN has an article looking at each conference so far. Andy Katz takes on the Big East in his article. “Big East: UConn and Pitt are teams to beat heading into ‘09” Not surprisingly, Providence is barely mentioned in any of the honors.  They were obviously not good enough to be considered a top (UConn) or “most surprising team” (Georgetown), not bad enough to be “most disappointing team” (that would be Louisville), and don’t even have the most “reason to worry” (Seton Hall).   So where does ...

Forward and Backward Looks
Pitt Blather -- The Rantings Continue — In a recap of 2008, Pitt made the list of top surprises for 2008 . 5. It’s not a sprint, it’s the New York marathon. And the Panthers did. When Cook celebrated that unlikely championship with his teammates, it was a great reminder that not all the important basketball is played in the NCAAs. It was arguably one of the most important victories in Coach Dixon’s tenure. Here’s hoping for bigger ones this March. ...
