Another Sad Day For The Guys Who Hate Bloggers
Last Friday, buried in the business section of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, we found out that longtime Tribune “ basketball expert ” Sam Smith was “ among 25 veteran Chicago Tribune writers and editors to take voluntary buyouts. “ Mr. Smith, of course, is a dear friend on bloggers everywhere, and will be sorely missed. Sadly, we’ll now have to check Smith off the ... [link]

THE GREAT NATIONAL DEBATE FOR THE DIRECTION OF BLOGGING
Published 3/17/2008 by Charles Slavik, CPT*D at The Slav's Baseball Blog - BASEBALL 24-7-365
... We see the same phenomena with cell phones and individualized ring tones. The company or industry that doesn't adapt is relegated to the dustbin of American corporate history beside the Pony Express. Unfortunately, the old-line sports media appears to be going in that direction, albeit kicking and screaming all the way. --------------------------------------------- FROM DEADSPIN: BOB COSTAS, BILL CONLIN, TONY KORNHISER, DAN SHAUGNESSY SUMMARY OF BLOG-HATERS http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/another-sad-day-for-the-guys-who-hate-bloggers-16645 ...

Who You Can Thank For The Juicy Canseco News
Published 3/26/2008 by Brooks at SPORTSbyBROOKS
The top story in the sports world so far this week is the leak of Jose Canseco’s new book “Vindicated.” The book wasn’t due out until next Monday, but a gent named Joe Lavin stumbled upon a copy and blogged about it . Will Leitch of DEADSPIN linked Mr. Lavin’s review of the book , and all hell broke loose. Every major media outlet is now reporting the news (or will be). Can you imagine Lavin trying to get his book review - before a link to Deadspin - to be taken seriously by a main ...

BOB COSTAS IS FORGIVEN. SOMEWHAT.

After becoming a Connecticut-grade douchebag with last week's anti-blog comments , Bob Costas did something pretty respectable: he took the effort to call Deadspin editor Will Leitch and clarify some of what he said . I don't have any problem at all ...

Eat, Drink, Tuck In Your Jersey

For some reason over the weekend, goathair from The Blowtorch took to Melas-ing his friends Ben Wallace jersey over a down vest. I’m going to go out on a limb and say alcohol was involved. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone.

Tank Talk

There has been a little thread commentary lately recommending that we "tank" the rest of the season in order to improve our draft slot. Sadly, these efforts would yield little in return. Currently, we are 5 games ahead of Indiana, who occupies the 9th spot. We could lose the rest of our games and it might not be enough to "catch" the Pacers.
