The Yanks and their fans could avoid another torturous Kei Igawa start this week if the threat of rain becomes a reality in Detroit today. ... The Yanks snapped their winless streak against Detroit yesterday. Darrell Rasner was competent, reminding the Captain of Jon Leiber. Speaking of Derek Jeter, he finally hit a homer, and has been rewarded today with the clean-up spot in the line-up. Signs point to this being a rain out, which is fine, as Ben at River Ave Blues points out. A cancellation today means we don't have to see Kei Igawa this week. He's praying for rain. Myself? The forecast for Detroit does not look good today. After 5:00 p.m., the weather does not get any better. In fact, it gets worse around 7 p.m. This is the last game of the series and it's the Yankees' only trip to this wonderful city of the season, so they may do all they can to try and get this game in. Keep in mind that the Yankees have a 7:10 p.m. game in St. Petersburg, Fla. tomorrow night.

Darrell Rasner pitched his second straight quality start, allowing only two earned runs over six innings against the Detroit Tigers Saturday afternoon. He is now 2-0 on the season after going 4-0 for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
