 Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 - Final
This was supposed to be a championship-caliber team in what is possibly Lloyd Carr's last opener is coach. With all hopes of a national championship pretty much dashed on the first Saturday of the season, it will be interesting to see if Michigan can salvage anything from the remaining games [link]

I get that Michigan is going to drop in the rankings--maybe out of the Top 25--but what's the deal with with the computer polls?  Don't they factor 1-AA games out?

So if Michigan conceivably wins all of its games against 1-A opponents...could some of the computer polls put them at #1?  Apologies if I'm confusing college football with college basketball.
