No Thank to be Given In Washington: Arenas Out 3 Months
Published 11/21/2007 by Nels at Give Me The Rock
From the Washington Post:
A statement from the doctor who perfomed the surgery: “I repaired a partial tear of Gilbert’s left medial meniscus,” said Dr. Marc Connell, the team physician. “In addition, he had a non-weight bearing articular surface defect in the trochlea treated by microfracture. We are optimistic that he will be able to return to action in three months.”
If Andray Blatche wasn’t picked up after his 26 point night last night, you’ll probably want to pick him up. ...

Gilbert Arenas to Washington Post:
Published 11/21/2007 at ESPN.com - True Hoop - Blog
Ivan Carter of the Washington Post drops a bit of a bombshell on his Wizards Insider Blog: Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas underwent surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Arenas originally tore the meniscus in the knee last April 3 and had surgery a few days later. The re-injury happened during Friday night's game at Minnesota but Arenas does not remember if it took place on a specific play. "Everything just started hurting after the game," Arenas said. "The pain came out of nowhere." The ...

Gilbert Goes Down, Our Hearts Go On
Published 11/22/2007 by Jamie Mottram at Mr. Irrelevant
Arenas re-tore his meniscus, had surgery today and will be out for three months. I have no words, but Wizznutzz encapsulates our innermost feelings.
Three months from now is late-February. IF Caron and Antawn stay healthy, the Wizards can hang around .500, right? And, IF that happens, Gil can swoop in and play hero as Washington enters the wide-open Eastern Conference Playoffs as a lower seed, right?
I choose to remain optimistic, so the silver lining in this is that Mr. Irrelevant faves Andray Blatche and Nick Young will now get more run.
Our ...
Agent Zero is off the Case for Three Months
Published 11/22/2007 by David Friedman at 20 Second Timeout
... This injury was not the cause of Arenas' dreadfully slow start this season; yes, he had surgery on the same knee on April 3 but according to Arenas himself the current problem began during last Friday's game versus Minnesota; he says that he reinjured the knee sometime during that contest. Arenas played poorly in the first six games of the season and the Wizards lost the first five of them. The seventh game, a 103-90 victory over the slumping Indiana Pacers, was Arenas' best game this season: 30 points on 9-18 shooting, 11 assists, six rebounds. He put up similar numbers in the ...

Gil Out 3 Months
Published 11/23/2007 by iwatchthenba at My Swog is Phenomenal
I realize the news broke yesterday, but like most Americans, I was traveling and my mobile blogging stuff wasn't setup correctly (aka, I was sleeping on the train). Anyway, as soon as I read it (and here, and here) I sighed a big, long, sigh. Granted, we won 3 games without Gil, but this hurts. Just when we thought we might get him back, BAM! I am sure he is just as frustrated as we all are, especially since he's also dealing with a breakup. But I have confidence in Gil and in this team. The Agent will work to get back in shape, and he will do it ...
