But football isn't basketball and Samuel isn't at the point of his career that Sprewell was when he refused Minnesota's offer. Samuel could suffer an injury next season that could, even with the sketchy reality of the numbers in NFL contracts, cost him almost $20 million in guaranteed money. Or he could play for the very reasonable contract he's entitled to and find himself in the same spot next year when the Pats slap another franchise tag on him.
