"Very astute analysis, Chad." Those are actual words from the comments, and I want to remind you of them because I'm about to look like an idiot. Cox_J_B_66 The Yankees on Tuesday promoted J.B. Cox to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, just hours after your resident Triple-A beat writer said there was no overpowering need to make such a move. Cox is the fourth Trenton reliever called to ... [link]

Joba's Potential Replacements Advance,Cox to AAA & Melancon to AA
Published 5/13/2008 by Bronx Liaison (noreply@blogger.com) at Bronx Liaison
... JB Cox, were each given a promotion to AA and AAA respectively. Cox is the more advanced of the two, mostly because he has logged more professional innings before going down with his elbow injury. Melancon probably has the best stuff, however, and may have the better make-up to pitching in the eighth inning. Whatever the case may be, both Cox and Melancon have the stuff and mentality to contribute to the Yankees big league pen this summer. From the SWB Yanks blog: The Yankees on ...

Cox, Melancon promoted
Published 5/13/2008 by Eric Schultz at Pending Pinstripes
... Sorry for being MIA for the past few days, it’s finals week for me and I have a lot going on.  After tomorrow afternoon, I will be done and back doing recaps, analysis, and maybe talking some about the draft.  Chad Jennings is reporting that JB Cox has been promoted to AAA, with Mark Melancon moving up to AA to fill his spot.  It seems like the Yankees have these guys on the fast track despite their relatively recent elbow surgeries, and they have performed very well up to this point. ...

Yankee doodles — ’cause the Yanks aren’t dandy
Published 5/14/2008 by Ed Valentine at Bugs & Cranks
... The Yankees shuffled some pitchers around in their minor-league system, promoting JB Cox and Mark Melancon. I wouldn’t read much into those moves. Fact ism with 13 guys on the big-league staff, and Phil Hughes and Jonathan Albaladejo on the disabled list the Yankees AA and AAA affiliates have simply been strapped for pitchers. ...
