Who Will Coach the Pistons?
SLAM Online —
... For some reason, people in Detroit want Avery Johnson to steer their wobbly ship: “Former Pistons coach Doug Collins withdrew his name from consideration, which would appear to open the door for former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson…Johnson appears to be the front-runner to replace Michael Curry, who was suddenly fired Tuesday on the eve of the NBA’s free-agency period. No problem with Avery Johnson
PistonsNationBlog.com —
Avery Johnson appears to be the front runner to replace Michael Curry, even if Joe isn’t saying so. I don’t have a problem with The “Little General” being our coach…now. Doug Collins Will Not Coach the Pistons
motownstringmusic.com 7/2/2009 — I was shocked when I even heard Doug Collins' name in the first place. I know he's one of the few big names available, but my first thought was, "been there, done that." I know under Joe Dumars it could be different, but I didn't really see how years as a TNT analyst after his last ...
Avery Johnson a no-go
pistonpost.com 7/7/2009 — Pretty disappointing, to say the least. I felt Johnson was the best candidate for the job, especially because of his ability to whip players into shape and maintain a team’s conduct. I still don’t think Cuban should have let him go from the Mavs.
Can’t really put this one on ...
