NEWARK - Sean Avery's innovative tactic of trying to
faceguard Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur was the hot topic at Prudential Center yesterday. Even though the Devils' 4-3 overtime win in Game 3 Sunday pulled them within 2-1 in the best-of-seven series against the Rangers, the Devils spent much of their time talking about Avery.

... he also says he wasn't worried about it happening again, as the referees assured him it wouldn't. Amusingly, Brodeur told Stan Fischler that he wishes he and Avery could verbally joust in French instead of English, "That way, I could come up with a quick answer. In English, I've got to think about it and then by the time I put it into English, he's gone!"
